Mall of America: An experience you will not want to miss.
By carlvaleri | May 29, 2006
Charlie in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory must have felt the same when he first entered the factory, as when I entered the amusement park at The Mall of America. My senses became overwhelmed by the sounds, sights and scents.
The swing, a popular amusement ride where people sit in chairs attached to long ropes and then circle around at a high rate. In the amusement park in the middle of the Mall of America, the swing is the trunk of the large faux tree. The tree made the people riding look like ants circling a tree of brilliant colors strewn through a bright green canopy.
While walking the enormous mall, it seemed adventure and surprise was around every corner. While rounding one corner I discovered an I love aquariums, and this one truly impressed me. To add to the excitement the Underwater Adventure is billed as the largest underground aquarium in the world
Weaving through glass tunnels inside the aquarium, I felt like a fish, prey to one of the large sharks that lumbered overhead. A truly awe inspiring and humbling experience.
After leaving the aquarium and rounding the south side of the mall The AMC theatres beckoned me to visit. I would enjoy two movies in their comfortable seats. I was able to see The Davinci Code and United 93 which you can see my review on this website.
There is something for everyone at the Mall of America. If you are looking to shop, you could spend a week or more perusing stores from the simplest to the most lavish. If you enjoy amusement parks and don’t want to be affected by weather you can enjoy a ride on the log flume or the roller coaster at the indoor amusement park Nickelodeon Universe. If you want to eat, dozens of restaurant await including Wolfgang Puck Express. If you are in the mood for a movie, the AMC theater will delight with its large comfortable seats and wide selection of movies.
Hotels surround the Mall and the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport, which is only a mile from the Mall. If you are looking for the ultimate shopping adventure why not fly in and stay for a week at one of the hotels that provide shuttle service to the mall.
